Mars is a polyester thread made from continuous fibers with increased tear resistance. It is characterized by very high abrasion resistance and resistance to external factors (water, dust, oils) thanks to the application of a special type of chemical finish. With excellent sewing properties and a slight, distinctive sheen, it provides an elegant seam appearance.

Polyester Mars threads are intended for sewing footwear, leather goods, and seams in leather and leather-like materials.

They are used for upholstery in furniture and automotive industries, as well as for safety belts. These threads also perform excellently when sewing heavy technical products, as well as for decorative and ornamental stitches.

Upon special request from the customer, the threads can be treated with specialized finishing, giving them properties such as: hydrophobic, oleophobic, antistatic, and hygienic.

MARS is a high tenacity polyester thread engineered for applications demanding exceptional strength, durability, and consistent sewing performance. Designed for industrial and heavy-duty production, MARS provides reliable seams even in challenging conditions, making it a preferred choice for manufacturers of footwear, leather goods, upholstery, and other technical textiles. Its combination of performance and aesthetic quality ensures both functional and decorative applications can be addressed with a single thread solution.

Produced in Poland, MARS represents a high-quality continuous filament polyester sewing thread, developed to withstand mechanical stress while maintaining a smooth and elegant seam appearance. The thread’s uniform structure supports precision in industrial sewing, reducing breakage and downtime while enabling consistent results across production runs.

Characteristics of MARS Polyester Threads

MARS threads are made from continuous filament polyester fibers, which provide a significant increase in breaking strength compared to standard polyester threads. This construction allows MARS to deliver heavy duty sewing thread performance without compromising sewability or seam quality.

The threads feature a specially designed chemical finishing process that enhances durability, reduces fraying, and ensures smooth feeding on industrial sewing machines. The finish also maintains a characteristic sheen, giving seams an elegant and professional appearance suitable for visible and decorative applications.

Key properties include very high resistance to abrasion, excellent stability under exposure to water, dust, and oils, and uniform behaviour during high-speed sewing processes. MARS threads combine mechanical resilience with aesthetic appeal, offering a practical solution for demanding industrial and decorative uses.

Continuous Filament Technology and Chemical Finishing

The use of continuous filament polyester sewing thread provides several advantages in industrial production. Continuous filaments offer uniform thickness, consistent tensile strength, and smooth surface texture, reducing thread breakage and improving machine efficiency.

Advanced chemical finishing enhances the functional properties of MARS threads. It stabilizes the thread surface, improves resistance to external factors, and supports reliable sewing even under high tension. Optional treatments are available for specialised needs, including hydrophobic and oleophobic finishes, antistatic properties, or hygienic finishes, allowing manufacturers to tailor the thread to specific applications.

Functional Benefits

MARS threads are valued for their combination of strength, durability, and versatility. They provide:

  • Exceptional tensile strength for heavy-duty seams in footwear, leather goods, and technical textiles
  • High abrasion resistance, ensuring longevity in high-wear applications
  • Stable sewability for both manual and industrial sewing processes
  • Elegant seam finish, suitable for visible or decorative stitching

These characteristics make MARS an ideal choice for professional manufacturers seeking a reliable and versatile industrial sewing thread.

Primary Applications

MARS threads are widely used across industrial and decorative sectors. Typical applications include:

  • Footwear manufacturing, including leather and thin textile shoes
  • Leather goods and leather-like products, such as handbags, backpacks, and protective covers
  • Furniture and automotive upholstery, where durability and seam appearance are critical
  • Heavy technical products, including tarpaulins and seat belts
  • Decorative seams for visible stitching in footwear, bags, and upholstery

The thread’s strength, abrasion resistance, and finish make it suitable for both functional and aesthetic purposes, bridging industrial and decorative requirements.

MARS Thread Variants and Their Uses

MARS is available in a wide range of thicknesses, from MARS 180 to MARS 10, allowing precise selection for different material weights and seam requirements:

  • MARS 180 & 80 – Light fabrics, mattresses, hemming, and quilting
  • MARS 120 – Lightweight curtains and quilting applications
  • MARS 60 & 60N – Footwear in thin leather and textiles, mattresses, sleeping bags, coated fabrics, upholstery, and leather-like goods
  • MARS 40 & 40N – Furniture and automotive upholstery, leather products, backpacks, covers, and footwear
  • MARS 20 & 15 – Heavy articles, tarpaulins, and decorative seams
  • MARS 10 – Very high-strength seams and decorative stitching for footwear and seat belts

This range allows manufacturers to match thread strength, thickness, and finish to the specific demands of each project, ensuring optimal performance and seam longevity.

Importance of Technical Parameters

Choosing the correct thread requires attention to breaking strength, thickness, and surface finish. High tenacity polyester thread must be paired with appropriate needles and machine settings to prevent damage to the material or the thread itself. Proper selection of thread winding and packaging formats also supports industrial-scale production, maintaining consistent feed rates and reducing interruptions.

By carefully considering these parameters, manufacturers can ensure durable seams, consistent stitch quality, and optimal performance in both functional and decorative applications.

Reliable Threads for Demanding Applications

MARS offers a dependable, high-performance solution for manufacturers seeking threads for leather and upholstery, heavy duty sewing thread, and decorative sewing threads. Its combination of mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and elegant finish ensures that both industrial and aesthetic requirements are met.

Explore the MARS range to select the optimal thread for your production needs, ensuring durable, precise, and visually appealing results across every application.
